Being In The Moment

I was guided to tell you about being in the moment, or being more present. Life takes us on a journey where we sometimes forget about our needs and even being aware of what is around us. I see so many people, including lots of children walking to school fully submerged in their phones. Technology is a great thing but it takes us away from being present and in living in the moment.

Being in the moment involves fully engaging with and experiencing the present without distraction or judgement.

Pay attention to your breath as you inhale and exhale. Notice the sensation of air entering and leaving your nostrils or the rise and fall of your chest.

Engage your sight and look around you, notice details you might usually overlook. Observe colours, shapes, and patterns in your surroundings. Listen to the sounds around you, whether it's the birds chirping, children outside playing or distant traffic. Try to identify different layers of sounds.

Use guided meditation to lead you through mindfulness practices. These will provide structure and support for your meditation.Notice your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Acknowledge them and let them pass without getting caught up in them.

Take a moment each day to reflect on what you're grateful for. Focusing on gratitude helps you appreciate the present and encourages a positive mindset.

Reduce the time you spend on digital devices. Set specific times for checking emails and social media to minimise distractions.Set yourself reminders or alarms on your phone to take a moment for mindfulness throughout the day, even if it is just a few minutes

By adding some of these practices into your daily routine, you can enhance your ability to stay in the moment and cultivate a deeper sense of mindfulness and presence.
