Some of you may know that I had a school built in Livingstone, Zambia in 2019. My husband Paul and I have sponsored Paul Kamwi since he was 5, he qualified as a teacher in 2018 and was unable to find a teaching post. That is when the idea of Pride Rock School was born. We funded the school and the children started to come to start a their education journey.
Then we had COVID which stopped the tourists visiting Livingstone and the beautiful Victoria Falls. The children's parents were struggling to feed them and they didn't have the energy to attend school when it reopen after the first wave of Covid. I came up with the idea of finding a sponsor for each child, so now we have 28 children that each have their own sponsor, so we can feed them every day along with having the opportunity of an education.
The last year has been amazing, we have raised the funds for our own water hole which is a god send for the children and the school, we take for granted to turning on a tap in this country.
On the 30th July we are having a fund raiser to extend the school as we need another class room so we can teach our children until they are 12. Along with this we will need more UK Sponsors.
If you are able to come along and support us that would be amazing. We have 35 local businesses selling their products. We have been donated some very lovely Raffle prizes too. We will be having traditional have a go stalls for the children and parents! The Basingstoke District Dog Training Club are putting on a dog show, so come down and enter your dog and have some fun!
There is also an evening event, we have a the brilliant band The Freight Train Runners and local DJ's, you can purchase a ticket in advance £6 or on the door £8. We also having an evening Raffle.
I have put my heart and soul into this for the last 6 months and I know it will be successful and help raise the £3000 we need for another class room. You can see our school on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/procktrustschool
